19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev won his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The Russian, a former number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with former mentor Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's initial trophy since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.
Victory also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one victories at 21 various competitions.
"It's the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.
His defensive play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.
However the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.
Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five games to go ahead.
The pair traded break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.
Moutet saved four early chances in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, the winner secured the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
