Unveiling an Unique Steam Demo: Guiding a Poop in a Mission to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have encountered plenty of engaging independent titles. However, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Called Unko Technica, this retro-inspired side-scrolling game lets you play a protagonist that is actually a dung attempting to navigate to a restroom. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."

The gameplay is straightforward: you only need a jump control. Throughout 150 levels, encounter tough enemies and access a shop to buy customizations for your fecal avatar.

Time your jumps with caution, as a mistake means restarting the level. Jump off air pockets to propel yourself upward, navigate fragile surfaces, and touch buttons to open hidden paths. Collect UN-KOINS to purchase more difficult levels as the action ramps up.

Visually, the game features neon environments and an amazing background music. The retro visual style with moving abstract forms may remind gamers of old favorites like Earthbound.

Although difficult to think of other games where you play as a piece of feces, gaming frequently included toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players craft grenades from character excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ feces as fertilizer. Naturally, this theme is present a lot in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already earned impressive recognition, such as taking top honors at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is accessible now on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to launch on Steam in the fall.
